ABOUT OUR EVENT

ARTS AND COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP

Registration Fee: 500 pesos only

In line with the Baguio Art Festival which will take place in November to December this year 2022, Arts and Communication Workshop is an event organized by Ibagiw Artes ti Youth Project that will be held at Camp Ragsak, Sitio Atol, Long Long, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet on November 18-19, 2022 at 7 o'clock in the morning to 4 o'clock in the afternoon. This is a 2-day event which aims to develop individuals' artistic side, as well as their communications skills. Participants will bring out their creative side by learning how to paint through experienced artists that will aid them throughout the journey. The first day is full of exciting activities focused on art creation. Each participant will be given art materials which is included in the registration fee. On the second day of the event, participants will focus on language and speaking skills while showcasing their masterpieces to the judges and the audience. At the end of event, they will be given different awards such as Top 5 Best in Arts and Communication Workshop and certificates of participation.

HOW TO GET THERE?

Location: Sitio Atol, Long Long, La Trinidad, Benguet

The organizers of the event will rent jeepneys for the participants which is also included on the registration fee.  ETD: 6:30AM | ETA: 7:00AM-8:00AM. Otherwise, they can reach the venue through the following mode of transportation: 

  • By Jeep

    Ride the Pinsao, Kalkalan route. Their parking is located along Kayang Street and just tell the dispatcher. Jeepney fare is at ₱ 11.00 and travel time is around 15-20 minutes. Disembark on the first tire path you see on the left side of the road with the signage "SITIO ATOL" and walk for 10-15 minutes going to the camp.

  • By Taxi

    Tell the driver you will go to Pinsao, Klkalan along Long Long. Once near Tam-Awan village, go up the right when you see the Flora's Spa / Fora's Home sign. Look for the first road to the left with a tire path (with a "SITIO ATOL" sign) and go inside from there. Just pin Camp Ragsak on your preferred navigation app and the way is visible going to the camp's gate. Travel time is around 15-20 minutes depending on the traffic either via Quezon Hill or Pinsao Proper. Fare is estimated at ₱150.00 - 170.00

  • By Taxi

    Just pin and locate Camp Ragsak on your preferred navigation app and follow the necessary directions. You can pass either via Quezon Hill (Naguilian Road) or via Pinsao Proper (Tacay Road). Travel time is estimated at 15-20 minutes depending on the traffic.

ART MATERIALS

Each participant will be given a tote bag which includes acrylic paints, paint brushes, canvas, palette, rags or paper towels, jar of a cup of water, soap for brushes and a varnish. Participants are also allowed to bring their own extra materials. 

These items will be distributed  by the organizers on the 1st day of the event for the painting session.

PROGRAM

The workshop is a two day event which will start from 7 o’clock in the morning and will end at 4 o’clock in the afternoon. We have invited three speakers from the Cordillera Administrative Region, 2 artists for day one and 1 speaker for day 2.

EVENT OBJECTIVES

To aid as a walkthrough for the objectives of the event, the workshop aims to achieve the following objectives:
To acquire a brief history of arts, and give them hands on experience that they can use in school and future career;
To provide a platform for the youth to showcase, and enhance their gift and passion in craftsmanship;
To comprehend the purpose of interpreting art through the use of oral language;
To develop their speaking and presentation skills in connection with their work and;
Being able to socialize, and collaborate with fellow youths to generate ideas, motivation, and inspiration.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

A line up of Cordillera's creative personalities that will provide information like no other.

Mr. Benedicto Cabrera

  • Studied at the University of the Phillippines Diliman earning a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in 1963.

  • National Artist of the Philippines for Visual Arts in 2006.

  • He has been noted as "arguably the best-selling painter of his generation of Filipino artists."

  • Famous artwork is “Sabel”.

  • Founder of Bencab Museum located at Tuba, Benguet.

  • Total Artworks: 274

Mr. Jefferson Cawaon Cablog 

  • His works are highly textured, achieved by using a palette knife instead of a paintbrush to layer oil onto his canvas.

  • Twice semi-finalist of the Metrobank Art Competition.

  • Named as one of the “40 portrait masters”

  • Studied Fine Arts Program of the University of the Philippines, Baguio.

Mr. Kidlat Tahimik

  • A film director, writer and actor whose films are commonly associated with the Third Cinema movement through their critiques of neocolonialism.

  • One of the Pioneering Independent Filmmakers in Asia.

  • Won International Acclaim for his unique style of presenting a distinctively Filipino combination of third-world self/conscious and pride.

  • Founder of the Ili-Likha Artist Village.
